Well, thank you for your patience. I know I've been away too long, but business matters have taken my energy and attention, and it's only now that I have a moment to be here.
As those of you know who have read my previous postings, I was first a minister, then a psychotherapist, and now I'm a business consultant/coach.
Business? Why business? After all that service to the soul and the psyche, why am I now in the world of business?
There are a number of reasons.
1.) It can be argued that business desperately needs the values of the soul and the psyche. Many people see business as heartless and without soul, and although that's way to simplistic and judgmental, sometimes it's right. How to combine values with business is a cutting edge conversation that needs very much to happen.
2.) Business is the arterial flow of the world; it's like the circulatory system in the body. It takes nourishment and life to every nook and cranny in the world. Business goes everywhere, and has the power to carry important beliefs and values with it. Business is transforming cultures everywhere, opening them up, bringing them into the twenty-first century. Granted, that's not always a totally positive thing -- nothing is -- but it is the underlying system that unifies the world.
3.) Business is alive and innovative. It is a change agent at a rapid pace. The internet has opened the world to global markets, which spreads global ideas at light speed. I decided that if I wanted to make a large difference for the better in the world, business is the arena and the system that would be the best way to do that BIG in the short time that is a lifetime.
As an agent for positive change, I "infect" the world of business with the philosophies and practices of goodness and greatness, I plant seeds for a quiet revolution in values that will bear fruit long after I am gone.
So I write here from time to time, as business allows, about things that the world of commerce is just beginning to think of as important.
When I'm not here, I'm planting seeds for a new kind of business for the future, business with a soul and a heart.
Then I come back to write and relax with you, to imagine and celebrate all the good in the world... the Mighty Alrightness of life and of the people we are, and the people we know.
